Happy Monday! Hope you had an amazing weekend! Mister Pretty Little Shopper and I took a quick trip to the East Coast on Thursday and just got back last night. We spent one night in New York City (which was way too short of course), before heading to Connecticut for the next two nights. We did manage to squeeze in a romantic dinner at our favorite NYC restaurant Il Gattopardo. It’s the best Italian cuisine we’ve found next to Italy and a must when you are in the city.
We woke up the next morning for a quick breakfast at our hotel and then off for a few hours of shopping. Tommy Hilfiger and Furla were first on the list, since we don’t have those stores in Los Angeles and then Sak’s Fifth Avenue which has already been transformed into a Winter Wonderland! A couple of hours later, Mister Pretty Little Shopper dragged me out (kicking and screaming), so we could go back to our hotel and meet our driver to take us to New Haven.
Two hours (and a nap) later, we made it to New Haven, Connecticut to visit Mister Pretty Little Shopper’s godson, who received early acceptance last year to the Freshman Class at Yale this year. In just 24 hours we went from the suite life at The Lotte New York Palace, to the dorm life at The Study at Yale, and I couldn’t help but laugh over the dramatic contrast. Be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram Stories for a peek into my travels.
My first trip to Connecticut was everything I expected. Trees everywhere and lovely brick buildings that reminded me of Oxford. We got to tour the Yale campus and one of the dining halls looked like it came straight out of Harry Potter! A Yale v. Brown football game (Yale crushed it), a trip to the Yale Center for British Art and a couple of cable knit sweaters later and we were back in a car to the airport. When I asked our Uber Driver how the weather was in LA over the weekend he told me it had been a pretty cool 70 degrees. 🙂
And while we’re on the subject of weather, let’s talk about this outfit. While you’ll definitely need to add tights and a coat to this look if you live in a cooler climate, this skirt and ruffled sleeve top is perfect by itself here in LA. If you’ve been reading for awhile, you probably already know how obsessed I am with Storets and this ruffled sleeve top was on my wish list for awhile. It also comes in ivory, red and beige and it’s a complete steal for just under $60. It’s such a versatile top for the Fall/Winter season as it pairs equally well with a skirt, jeans or even a more formal pair of suit or wool pants. I styled it here with a Gucci inspired Storets skirt and my actual Gucci loafers which are seriously the most comfortable and classic shoes ever, not to mention a total compliment magnet.
