Photo Diary: Venice, Italy

Venice photo diary
Happy Thursday! I am finally sharing with you my last post from my Italian Holiday this past May. This was my second time visiting Italy and Mr. Pretty Little Shopper and I visited the same three cities we went to on our Honeymoon to celebrate our Anniversary this year. Our last stop was Venice, which is a bit of a supermodel amongst cities, as she is photographic at any angle, bridge or alley.
On our first morning in Venice, we had a quick breakfast at our hotel and walked over to St. Mark’s Square to meet our tour guide.

We got a bit lost on our way there, but finally made it just in time.

Our tour guide took us through the Doge’s Palace. This is a view from the palace balcony.

After our tour we stopped for some lunch (aka gelato). Seriously, the best gelato ever! Can’t remember the exact location (across a bridge and near an alley, lol :)) but this one was in walking distance from our hotel and across from Sephora!

It was hard not to stop on every single bridge for a photo op.

The art scene is huge in Venice. Galleries are everywhere, including the sidewalks!

Love the church shadow on this building. I shot this on my cell phone on a late afternoon walk/sunglasses shopping spree.

These photos were taken on one of our walks home from dinner. The sun sets after 8 pm in Venice in May.
Ca'Sagredo Hotel, Venice
We stayed at the Ca’Sagredo Hotel this time. We tried to stay at our Honeymoon hotel the St. Regis San Clemente Palace, but it was already booked six months in advance when we booked our trip!

This Gondolier station was conveniently located in front of our hotel. Gondolier rides can be quite pricey, but a trip just to get across the canal is only 2 Euros per person.

Our hotel room reminded me of the attic of a dollhouse. We stayed on the top floor and when we opened the door to our suite, we were greeted by a private staircase that led to a little flat with slanted ceilings.

Behind this bed was a great little storage closet that I had all to myself. Mr. Pretty Little Shopper is so tall that he didn’t bother to venture back there. I learned to crouched down after whacking my head on the “ceiling” at least twice.

We had little visitors chirping away every morning.

It isn’t everyday you get to stay in a 15th century palace, so of course I had to get some photos.

Had so much fun gliding down these palace steps.

We crossed the canal on our last night to go to dinner.

Dress code for the evening was “Gondolier Chic”. The Gondolier liked my outfit, so he let me take a picture with him :).

We got serenaded at dinner by this lovely street band.

Gluten-free Frutti di  Mare. Gluten-free pizza and pasta was quite easy to find on our trip. I had pasta a few times, but regretting that I didn’t try any Italian pizza.

Yet another picturesque view on our walk home.
