I’m so excited to share these long overdue Before and After photos of our Hollywood Regency Butler’s Pantry! I absolutely LOVE how this little nook of the house came out! I am long overdue to share photos of our completed Hollywood Regency Kitchen, but for today this sneak peek will have to suffice.
We bought our house from the original owners and it was built in 1995, so both the kitchen and butler’s pantry were in desperate need of a makeover.
In keeping up with the Hollywood Regency theme of the home, I wanted a glossy pop of color for this space.
I was a little worried that this Laguna Blue color might be too bold, but that’s where Joseph (my brilliant rendering artist) came in handy. I wrote in detail in this post how I hired Joseph on Fiverr.com to help me draw out all of my designs for the house.
We went back and forth for months with me sending him countless links, photos and notes, and with Joesph being an extremely talented designer himself it was a fantastic collaboration. Since I decided to take on the task of designing the house myself, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t making any horrible and costly mistakes before we got started.
I’m really thrilled at how closely the final results resemble the renderings! I was so torn between Benjamin Moore’s Peacock Blue and Benjamin Moore’s Laguna Blue, which I (unknowingly) held up the project an extra week trying to decide on paint colors.
Luckily we had already decided on the hardware for the entire kitchen earlier, which was a big decision in terms of both design and function. But, I knew I wanted to do a fun pop with a few of the pulls in the Butler’s Pantry, to really play up the Hollywood Regency theme. I also wanted the pulls to tie in with the Schumacher Brighton Pavilion Wallpaper we had planned for the dining room. I found these fantastic dragonfly pulls on Etsy and not only are they gorgeous, but they were super affordable as well!
The brass grilles were one of the major splurges we made on the house. There is only one UK based company I could find that makes these and they don’t sell abroad. Somehow I managed to track down the US dealer who sells them and it took quite a few months to deliver as it was a custom sized order, which each grille made to measure. As you can see, they were well worth the wait!
I really wanted an antique mirror backsplash and this was another item that was a bit hard to track down. While you can order antiqued mirror panels on Etsy, they are tricky to install. On the suggestion of our contractor Pepe, we hired Mark at Artisan Glass Designs. He came over with a box full of samples and we quickly narrowed it down to a couple we liked and slept on the choices overnight. We kept the preexisting under cabinet lighting and Mark did a great job not only measuring around the lighting, but creating a custom outlet cover out of a piece of the antiqued mirror. The end result is seamless!
The Sub-Zero wine refrigerator was another splurge. We ended up going with all Sub-Zero, Wolfe and Cove appliances for the kitchen and butler’s pantry. The appliances are in high demand and we had a nine month delivery time, but they were well worth the wait!
While we didn’t add any additional lighting (as pictured in the renderings), I am eyeing these Visual Comfort chandeliers. We have so many more pressing home projects on the queue, but it’s definitely something I might revisit at a later date.
For now I just want to enjoy cocktails with friends and lots of wine dates and dinner parties!
