A Visit to Shareen Vintage

Shareen Vintage

I was first introduced to Shareen Mitchell about 5 years ago by a mutual friend at another friends play…. I would have to say that meeting Shareen at the theatre is quite appropriate in hindsight, as a trip to her store is always a theatrical and exhilarating event. Stepping into her 6600 foot downtown warehouse is enough to get any fashion lovers heart to skip a few beats. A few weeks ago Amina and I took a trip to Shareen Vintage to shoot this piece for the blog as well as a story for Locale Magazine. We brought my beautiful model friend Geena to pose for Amina’s Locale interview with Shareen.

The first thing you will notice when you enter the store is Shareen’s “No Boys Allowed” policy.  There are no dressing rooms at Shareen…. rather you are just encouraged to start a pile on any of the vintage furniture, so wearing nice underwear is recommended.

Shareen started a bridal line several years ago after a photo of a vintage bridal dress went viral on Pinterest.

Such a fun place to hang out with your girlfriends.

This gorgeous gown was a little too big, but Shareen will have her team do alterations to custom fit a piece for you if needed. It reminds me of something Lana Del Rey would wear, who I was beyond thrilled to find out, is a regular client of Shareen’s.

So many dresses to choose from… I can’t wait to show you what I brought home with me!

This dress reminds me so much of Leisl’s soaking wet dance with Rolfe in the gazebo in The Sound of Music.

A rack of dresses from Shareen’s custom line… I had to stop myself from trying on that plaid one… do I really NEED another tartan dress in the Spring?

You can read Amina’s incredible interview with Shareen here.  Her story is quite inspiring and this is one of the most inspirational pieces Amina has created yet!

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  I was so happy to spend some quality time with Mr. Pretty Little Shopper who has been away on business trips way too much lately.  It definitely makes me appreciate the time we are together when he is home!

Now about this outfit…. I am absolutely in love with this new gingham blouse and black skirt.  Both pieces have already been worn in multiple combinations and will most likely be in my suitcase on my upcoming trip as they are both so light and versatile.

Zara blouse.  Nasty Gal skirt (on sale!).  Tommy Hilfiger sunglasses.  Love Moschino bag (similar here and here).  Ava & Aiden sandals (similar here).

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a lovely Easter/Passover Weekend!

If you happen to be in the LA area, I wanted to share some exciting news; A film I am in called Tabloid Vivant will be having it’s premiere at the Cinema at The Edge Film Festival in Santa Monica.  The film will screen on Sunday night as the closing feature of the lineup just before the closing night party.  Tickets are available here, so if you happen to be in town then come check out the film and say hello.

Now let’s talk about this outfit.  This dress was a must have the second I saw it!  Of course if you’ve been reading this blog for any period of time, you probably already know that I am completely obsessed with floral prints.  This dress is by The Kopples and it has a built in corset which gives it a beautiful structure.  We took these photos on Melrose Place and it was my first time trying Alfred’s Coffee after hearing so much about it.  Amina and I had Chai Latte’s and we both thought it lived up to the hype.  Afterwards we stopped by Tommy Hilfiger on Robertson and I tried on these amazing rock star booties that had just arrived at the store.  Sooo cute!!!

Happy Thursday!  I hope you are having a wonderful week!

This top has been in my closet for years and I am so glad it is back in style right now.  It actually has a matching pair of pants, but I thought the two pieces together looked a little too much like pajamas so I hope to find a way to style the pants in a future post.  I actually used to wear both pieces together all the time when I first got this, but what can I say?  I was younger then. 🙂  I paired this look with my favorite pair of denim shorts and this adorable new bag from Nasty Gal.  It’s actually a crossbody, but I didn’t want to smush the beautiful embroidery on the top in the photos so I swung it over my shoulder instead.

Happy Thursday!  How is your week going so far?  This is a Spring transitional look I put together with some of my favorite winter pieces.  I started with my Tommy Hilfiger Collection kilt skirt (previously seen here), which is reversible!  I added a white blouse along with a pink sweater to give it a lighter touch.  Finally I added some leather details to give it a rustic, romantic feel.

Also, can you believe these photos were taken in the middle of downtown Los Angeles?  Amina and I went to a location nearby to shoot a feature which I am very excited to share with you soon.  I had wanted to shoot this look, but when we got there I didn’t think it would work because the outfit really wasn’t suited to the graffiti walls that surrounded us… much more “street style” than “country chic” as I would call this look.  Luckily we happened to stumble upon this abandoned trailer and railroad track.  How divine!
