Happy (very belated) 2023! I hope your New Year and Lunar New Year are off to a great start! Things have been busy at our house with finishing up phase one of our home remodel and I am so excited to check in with a sneak peek of our new foyer tile.
I spent hours on end with Phil Harrison at Paris Ceramics hemming and hawing over tile decisions and I can honestly say it was absolutely worth it on my end. I really hope I didn’t drive Phil crazy by my obsessiveness, but I am definitely of the sound mind that picking out tile is pretty darn close to a marriage. It’s a big decision that will (hopefully) last a lifetime and I don’t want to have to “consciously uncouple” anytime soon! Just think of how costly and messy a tile “divorce” might be and how on earth would I explain it to Mr. Cupcake? He is really LOVING these new tiles! The cool marble stone feels great on his warm fur (with the exception of this week of course when we are currently snowed in again).
All jokes aside, this parquet tile has been a dream manifestation of mine for years on end. I knew without a doubt that I wanted the black and white checkered look… the big dilemma was in choosing the darker stone shade, stone and size. I went back and forth for months between Nero Marquina and Spanish Grey, ten or twelve inch and polished marble or unlacquered stone. As you can imagine it was quite a decision, but I am absolutely in love with how it turned out. We decided on the exact same stone in our powder room and I am absolutely obsessed with both!
Speaking of obsessed, can we talk about this stunning V. Chapman corset dress? I found it on Revolve Clothing last Summer and at first considered it a rather frivolous purchase, but I immediately ended up getting quite a bit of wear out of it. It’s a lovely dress to wear with pumps or sandals to an event or dinner, but can easily be dressed down with cowboy boots, a buckle belt and/or a leather jacket. It’s also a perfect dress to wear for Valentine’s Day!
