Happy 2021! + Major Life Update

My thoughts on the New Year and a major life update! | Life Update by popular LA lifestyle blog, Pretty Little shoppers: image of a woman wearing a pink dress, straw boater hat, and pink strappy sandals while standing on a bridge.

Happy 2021! I think it’s safe to say that 2020 is a year that most of us are happy to see come to an end. In hindsight it was all 2020, but for now I’ve been taking the time to reflect on what has been a really challenging year and how it’s changed my perspective on so many things emotionally, spiritually and financially. So I wanted to share my current life update with everything.

Life Update

While I’ve always been conscience of how I spend my time and money, spending the better part of a year “grounded” for lack of a better word, has really caused me to take an even deeper look inward to what my soul really wants and needs. So just over a month ago I surprised myself by coming to the realization that it was time to leave my lifelong home state of California for a new beginning. My husband had wanted to move to Texas for well over a year and I told him if he wanted to go it would be without me! But oh what a difference a year makes… and especially if that year takes place during a global pandemic!
Just a week or two after the election, I stayed up late in my office looking at homes online and researching life in Dallas. I woke up the next morning and asked my husband if he still wanted to move and he said “Yes!” without even taking a breath. We called our realtor a few hours later to discuss listing our house and started making plans for a quick trip to Dallas to make sure we actually liked it there. We ended up not only loving it, but finding our dream house on our very first day! While we originally planned to sell our LA home before buying, it ended up making more sense to just move… primarily because with everything shut down in LA still, there is literally nowhere to go while you are showing your house right now.
While there are a few things I will definitely miss about LA, I am more than excited about this new adventure and can’t wait to take you along on our journey. If you have any tips on moving half-way across country, making friends in a new city, or favorite Dallas recommendations please do message me or leave me a comment below.
Wishing you the happiest and healthiest of New Years!

Good luck on your move. I have heard a lot of good things about the Dallas area. Have only flew through there so can’t speak from experience. Lots to do and see there.

Texas seems to be the place to be for Cali people who want a change and better tax rates. Fashionable and smart 😁 Def thinking about it myself!! Looking forward to your updates.
