Well, hi there! It’s been awhile and I’ve really missed y’all! I’m so excited to be back on the blog and to share our first Wendy Morrison rug.
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you already know that we moved to Dallas in 2021 and manifested our dream home and puppy. The oversized living room of our gorgeous new home had me at “hello” with it’s stunning crown molding and French windows. As the room is substantially larger than our previous living rooms, we realized we would need a much larger rug to fill the space. I wanted the rug to be the focal point of the room and had been searching high and low for Chinoiserie style rugs on 1st Dibs, Chairish and One Kings Lane. Somehow along the line I stumbled upon Wendy Morrison’s Instagram page and was instantly smitten! Her designs are so stunning and the hardest part of the process ended up being which design to choose!
After hemming and hawing for quite sometime over Wendy Morrison’s website, I started my process of narrowing down designs by creating mood boards with my top 5 choices on Canva.

This Jardin de Orient green and gold rug above and the Birdsong Jade rug below were originally my top two choices. Ultimately we ended up checking them off the list because they are two similar in color and style to the Schumacher wallpaper we are planning on installing in our dining room and the Martinique wallpaper in our powder room.
I really love the Floral Jewels hand knotted rug, but considering we needed an oversized custom rug, the cost ended up being prohibitive.
I’m still really obsessed with this Flowers of Virtue rug! Ultimately it wasn’t the right statement piece for our Hollywood Regency Living Room, but it’s currently still the top contender for when we finally give our primary bedroom a much needed makeover.
The Chinese Garden of Virtue rug was a top choice from the beginning with it’s regal elegance and beauty. We set up a virtual consultation with the team at Wendy Morrison to discuss sizing, pricing and timelines for our rug and found the experience extremely supportive and helpful. The team was knowledgeable during every step of the process and gave us expert advice on styles and choosing sizes. We followed up the process by ordering complimentary samples and I also hired Joseph (my incredible artist in Turkey) to compose sketches of what the final room layout might look like.
After we decided on the style and size (12 x 14 feet), we made our deposit and marked our calendar for the six month delivery date. The Wendy Morrison team kept us updated of our progress along the way and it was so much fun to see photos of the progress from start to finish. We really appreciated the artistry and skill that went into our beautiful statement rug.
Production Process with Wendy Morrison Design:
When our rug finally arrived, we had to wait another week to set it up in our living room. Since it was folded and bolted into a pallet for shipping, it had to be unscrewed and then rolled up for a few days to get it’s shape back. The rug weighs about 200 lbs., so we had to hire our trusted handy man Joe to help us install.
The entire process ended up being well worth the wait as we are absolutely obsessed with our first Wendy Morrison rug. I can’t wait to show you an update on our living room, as we have finally purchased a new coffee table and hung up our art work!
